Darlington County Board of Education signs S.C. School Boards Association’s Ethical Principles pledge
DARLINGTON, S.C. – The Darlington County School District and the Darlington County Board of Education is joining school districts throughout the state and nation to celebrate School Board Recognition Month in January. School and communities are recognizing more than 600 locally-elected and appointed school board members throughout the state for their service and dedication to public education.
To commemorate School Board Recognition Month, all eight members of the Darlington County Board of Education signed the South Carolina School Boards Association’s ethical principles poster, which will hang in the board’s meeting room. By signing the principles, school board members publicly vowed to uphold effective governance principles and pledged to improve public education in their community.
The theme of School Board Recognition Month, “School Boards Stand Up 4 SC Public Schools,” recognizes the important roles school boards play in promoting and advocating for quality education. School board members are elected/appointed by the people in their local communities to represent their voice and to ensure the success of schools and students.
