Darlington County School District to host second annual Digital Transformation Conference
Second Annual DCSD Digital Transformation Conference
Darlington Middle School
Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
DARLINGTON S.C. – Hundreds of Darlington County School District (DCSD) educators will continue expanding their digital tool portfolios Sept. 24 during the second annual DCSD Digital Transformation Conference at Darlington Middle School.
The conference, led by DCSD’s Technology Department, will feature dozens of expert-led sessions focused on digital technology in the 21st century classroom. The conference has also been opened up to other school districts this year. Diane Sigmon, DCSD director of technology, said the event will build on the inaugural conference’s momentum.
“Our second annual Digital Transformation Conference will provide teachers the opportunity to network with each other, experience specific applications of technology in the classroom and grow in their confidence to incorporate these powerful and exciting resources in their learning spaces,” Sigmon said. “The excitement that was felt from our first conference was indescribable. I’d like to give a big shout-out to the Digital Transformation Conference Planning Committee for all of their hard work to make this happen.”
Conference session topics will include technological certifications, infusing multiple technological resources in lessons, using web-based tools, production software, social media, learning management systems and communication tools. The event aligns with the district’s Digital Transformation Project, a three-year initiative that will put a personal computing device in the hands of every student in the district by 2017. The Darlington County Board of Education voted unanimously this year to provide $2.6 million annually to fund technology in the classroom.
Darlington Middle School is located at 150 Pinedale Drive in Darlington.
