HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Four Hartsville High School student-athletes recently signed national letters of intent to play collegiate sports next year.
Jamal Shaw and Keion McDonald signed with Coker College to run track. Seth Spell signed with Coker College to wrestle. Rachael Kerr signed with Salem College to play volleyball.
Shaw recorded a 100-meter dash in 10.89 seconds this season and a 200-meter dash in 22.42 seconds. Shaw was a member of the Hartsville High School boys’ 4x100-meter relay team, which recorded a conference-leading time of 43.00 seconds.
McDonald was also apart of the school’s 4x100-meter relay team. And in the long jump, he jumped a personal record this season of 21-feet-4-inches, breaking his personal record from last season of 18-feet-3-inches.
During his superb wrestling career at Hartsville High School, Spell compiled an overall record of 95-42. This season he was named a 2015-16 North-South All-Star. During the 2014-15 season, Spell qualified for state competition.
As a senior, Kerr recorded 215 kills and 148 blocks. She smashed 45 aces, picked up 73 assists and registered 211 digs on the court.
