Announcing a New Adult Education Initiative: E-learning!

With recent advancements in technology, the way we deliver instruction has been transformed, and learning is no longer restricted to the four walls of the traditional classroom. If work schedules and family commitments have made it impossible for you to return to school, Darlington County School District’s Office of Adult Education has several exciting options available:

GED Online Preparation – Study online, when it suits your schedule, to master the skills necessary for success on the GED test. Once you demonstrate readiness to pass on the GED test, our office will pay your $80 testing fee. Requirements: Minimum reading level, completion of 12-hour orientation series, and commitment to devote at least 12 hours per week to online study.

High School Diploma Preparation – If you earned at least 16 units while in high school, you can complete your diploma requirements online through the South Carolina Virtual School Program. Requirements: $25 registration fee, minimum reading level, completion of 12-hour orientation series, and high school transcript reflecting 16 earned diploma units.

Work Keys Career Readiness Preparation – Prepare online for the Work Keys Career Readiness Tests (Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics). Once the preparation process has been completed, our office will administer the Work Keys tests to you at no charge! Requirements: Completion of 12-hour orientation series and at least 18 hours of online study.

“E-learning Nights” for participants age 18 and older will be held Monday of each week from 5:00-8:00 pm at both of our Adult Ed locations:

Hartsville Adult Education Center (437 W. Carolina Avenue)

Darlington Adult Education Center (100 Magnolia Street)

No appointment is necessary; simply arrive at 5:00 PM on the designated evening, and we’ll get you started on your “E-learning” Journey!

If you have any questions, please call our office at (843) 398-2856.
